Özet

There are a lot of commonalities and differences between the Turkish language and the Japanese language. Also, there are many commonalities and differences regarding the case assignment between Turkish and Japanese. Especially the relationship between the dative
case in Turkish and the dative and the accusative cases in Japanese arouses curiosity. This thesis shows which cases – dative or accusative – are used with Japanese equivalents of the verbs which govern dative case in Turkish. The Japanese equivalents of those verbs which govern the dative case in Turkish govern either the dative case or the accusative. The dative-governing verbs are separated into 4 groups. The accusative governing verbs are separated into 2 groups. After the grouping, each group is going to be illustrated. Many examples in Turkish and their Japanese translation are going to be presented.
